Playing Free Games To Improve Memory

Have you noticed that your memory is not as good as it used to be? Varying amounts of memory deterioration is normal in humans. The good news is, like the muscles in your body the brain responds very well to mental exercise. Doing such exercise on a regular basis can make your brain strong. Games can do this for you.

In fact, just as everyone should exercise every day to improve their physical health, so should everyone exercise their brain and memory every day. Even if your brain and memory are working equally as well as they have for years, you should still exercise your mind frequently to maintain your memories performance and prevent it from deteriorating.

The amount of free games that are available to help you improve your memory is endless. In fact you can start playing them as soon as you finish reading this article.

Some of the most common games that people play for exercising their memory are crossword puzzles and sudoku puzzles. However, there is a very powerful little game that is free in many places that also gives the mind a good once over. That game is word find. You may ask yourself why is word find so good. While, quite simply, as you are looking for words in the jumble of letters, words that you get from the word list provided, your holding that word in memory. That's memory exercise.

Here is a neat little way to double or triple the mind exercising power of a word find puzzle. Instead of just picking words one at a time from the word list and then looking for them in the jumble, picked out two, three, or four words at a time. Holding the words in your short-term memory begin to look for them in the jumble until you find all four. Keep doing this until you finish the puzzle.

Word find puzzles also come in versions where instead of giving a list of words defined in the puzzle, you are given a list of questions, like in a crossword puzzle, and the answers to those questions are the words that you need to look for in the puzzle. This adds a new layer of complexity which can make the game more effective at improving your memory.

When you get bored of Word finds you can play other puzzles as well. There are plenty of free puzzle sites on the Internet. If you do a search on word find puzzles you'll likely be brought to sites that not only contain word find puzzles, but also other puzzles that you may not even heard of, or even puzzles you are familiar with like sudoku or crossword.
